Chapter 4 - Once More unto the Breach

Page 52, Paragraph 2: A major improvement was the replacement of the No. 11 wireless set by the No. 19 set, [1] a radio receiver/transmitter set designed by Pye Radio Works at Cambridge for use with armoured vehicles. The No. 19 set included three systems: the A-set for regimental use,[2] the B-set for short-range communication (visual) and the intercommunication system for use between the tank crew.
[1] The Mark I Churchills were delivered to the Regiment equipped with Number 19 Sets not, as the wording infers, with 11 sets on board.
Although not incorrect needs clarification as each squadron operated on its frequency - rarely was the whole regiment on one net.
[2] Clarification needed. The 'A' Set was used for long-range communication between tanks. The 'B' Set was used for short-range ( up to approximately 1,000 yards) communication betwen tanks visible to one another, usually, but not always, those of a Troop.

Page 54, Paragraph 1: Another move took place in June, this time to Didlington in Norfolk for II Corps' Exercise 'Scorpion'.
While this statement is correct, that which reads at the commencement of the last paragraph At Didlington the Regiment was in Nissen Huts is not. While in Norfolk the regiment was billeted, in Nissen Huts, off the Thetford/Brandon road. The exercise took place over a private estate of about 7105 acres, several miles ro the north-east.
Verification: Regimental War Diary entry 12.6.42. This error is repeated on Page 57, Paragraph 3.

Page 55, Paragraph 1:
Excitement mounted at the end of June when it was learned that full mobilisationhad to be completed by 28 July. Everything started to move quickly and the Regiment was transferred to 1st (Mixed) Division, which had served as an infantry division in France and, subsequently, in a home defence role. It was now one of the new ‘mixed’ divisions.
The phrasing is confusing on two counts:
!. That the NH was transferred to 1st (Mixed) Division in June, when in fact it was on September 21st 1941, prior to the regiment moving to Westbury in England. The correct name is 1st Infantry (Mixed) Division.
2: The truncated (Mixed) Division, may lead a reader to think that it was an Armoured Division by the use of had served.

Chapter 5 - Tunisia: Baptism of Fire

Page 75, Paragraph 1: Finch Noyes
Correct spelling is Finch-Noyes. This error is also on pages 98, 185, 190, 205 and 216. Also Index page 273.

Page 85, Balance of insert, lines 7 & 8: 'Compo' rations played a big part in life, whilst in action. There were three types, A, B and C.
Captain Griffith's assertion that there were only three different Composite Ration Boxes issued is incorrect, there were seven labelled A - F. Box F was much prized as it contained tins of spam.
