Churchill Tanks Shipped to Russia

Introduction
A total of 301 Churchills, of which 43 were lost at sea, were shipped to the Soviet Union aboard Arctic convoys.
Soviet forces liked the thick armour but felt the tanks were too lightly armed, especially the few Mark Is with its 2-pdr.
At the Battle of Prokhorovks at Kursk in 1943, 35 Churchills were the only heavy tanks available to the 5th Guards Tank Brigade.
