21st Tank Brigade
History
October 1941: Created as one of ten proposed Churchill equipped independent Army Tank Brigades.
June 1942: Attached to 4th Mixed Infantry Division. On Churchills, the Division's insignia was carried on front and rear track guards.
March 1943: Arrived in North Africa, where it was only Mixed Division to see action, albeit for just five weeks.
May 1943: Regained independent status.
May 1944: Arrived in Italy.
January 1945: North Irish Horse joined the Brigade as senior unit. 145th Regiment Royal Armoured Corps disbanded.
Note: Brigade vehicles did not wear Arm of Servce insignia.
