25th Tank Brigade
Following the breaking of the Hitler Line, 23rd May 1944, the Brigade baving been awarded the right to carry the Maple Leaf of Canada on insignia added it to the black diabolo. Note that the diabolo was not worn other than in the shield.
History
June 1942: Created as one of ten proposed Churchill equipped independent Army Tank Brigades. Shortly thereafter the Brigade, not having lost its independent status, was attached to 43rd Infantry Division. 'Army' dropped from title.
September/December 1942: Attached to 1st Mixed Infantry Division.
January 1943: Sailed to North Africa as an independent Tank Brigade.
December 1944: Disbanded. North Irish Horse transferred as senior unit to 21st Tank Brigade. 51st Royal Tank Regiment transferred to the newly created 25th
Armoured Division. 142nd Regiment Royal Armoured Corps disbanded.
