6th Guards Tank Brigade


A Brief History

15th June 1943: Created by the transfer of three battalions from 6th Guards Armoured Division.
20th July 1944: Landed in Normandy over beaches Gold and Juno, twenty-four days after D-Day. The delay being due to Field Marshal Montgomery refusing to deploy the Brigade, only reversed following Winston Churchill's approach to King George VI.
July 1945: Brigade disbanded. The men rejoined the ranks of the Guards Divison.
