With the British Army of the Rhine

The journey from Vienna to Germany was a slow and roundabout one. Our first lengthy stop was in Paris where a hungry multitude dismounted to be fed. Thus satisfied, it was on to Germany to eventually reach the small town of Hilden.

For a week we were billeted in nearby Solingen until moving a few miles to the northeast to what was to be the Regiment's final home, Sagan-Kaserne, Wuppertal where, on becoming part of 53rd (Welsh) Division, personnel from another reconnaissance unit, the 53rd (Welsh) Regiment, were absorbed. Thus NIH had now turned a full cycle - the Regiment was back under the command of same Division in which it first served during World War II.
